savag3duck This album is like a warm hug, someone telling you that things suck but they get you. Noso portrays their life as a non-binary person in a way thats impossible not to sympathize with. On top of this the songs are great earworms. I dont listen to much pop music but this album is really enjoyable. Favorite track: David.

nwehr I randomly saw the Tiny Desk concert and was awed by the musicality, humanity and beauty of their music. I found catchy meaningful but not-too-serious music I could bop to but also find layers. It’s just good, can’t wait to see what happens next.

"Stay Proud of Me is the debut album from LA-based Korean-American artist NoSo (real name, Baek Hwong). Their stage name is shorthand for North/South: a nod to their Korean heritage, and the inane origin question (""Which Korea are you from?"") that so many Korean Americans inevitably face at some point in their lives. Across 10 tracks, NoSo indirectly grapples with the insecurities and frustrations that can arise from the Asian American experience, with the end result feeling like a balm for the alienated.

Stay Proud of Me offers a deeply earnest coming-of-age story, a nuanced introduction to NoSo’s universe and Hwong’s rapidly expanding musical abilities.
